Chris Shiflett is most commonly known as the lead guitarist in legendary American rock band Foo Fighters. But despite the blinding and unerring success of the alt-rock outfit (now into their 18th year and still going strong), Shiflett has been moonlighting in many a different role over the years, including being a member of punk rock cover band Me First and the Gimme Gimmes, running his own podcast, Walking the Floor with Chris Shiflett, as well as launching his own country project Chris Shiflett & the Dead Peasants. So while Foo Fighters unexpectedly release new single Run and prepare for a headline slot at the Glastonbury Festival, their guitarist has put out his third, and arguably finest, solo album yet. We sat down with him ahead of his second London gig at the Water Rats in Kings Cross to showcase his new tracks to talk country versus alt-rock, solo versus band gigs and Shiflett’s relentless desire for new inspiration.
