Food lovers rejoice: the S.Pellegrino x Harvey Nichols dinner series is back for a second summer.

For the next month, the Champagne Bar of Harvey Nichols will be awash with Italian style, all rustic wood, olive trees and overwhelming amounts of Mediterranean hospitality. It’s on Tuesday nights that things really spring to life, though, as one of the capital’s best chefs is invited in to cook a bespoke Italian banquet.

Last year’s dinner series was a roaring success, pairing some of the city’s best chefs with a flexible brief to create four distinct but brilliant dinners. Highlights included Theo Randall’s famously silky pasta and James Lowe’s Pea and Ticklemore salad, as well as dozens of other successful dishes.

This year’s line up looks just as intriguing. The man of the moment, Claude Bosi, is set to open with a dinner on 18th July. Then two of the city’s most intriguing chefs Chris Denney of 108 Garage and Lee Westcott of Typing Room will be hoping to inspire diners with their innovative culinary skills. The event concludes with the always excellent Marianne Lumb, who will turn her hand to capturing the spirit of Italian warmth with her usual style and grace.  

Of course, rooftop events in the London skyline are always a risky business. Our perennially dysfunctional weather system seems happy to throw us beautifully sunny days in November and showers in August, making any advanced planning a fruitless affair. The S.Pellegrino dinners are one of those events that make things work regardless, making up for any lack of sun with boundless passion and enthusiasm from both staff and chefs. When the Prosecco is flowing and the banquets being served, there are few places in the entire capital that capture the spirit of effortless hospitality and charm.
