Christian Siriano spring/summer 2019 collection catwalk show for NYFW for NYFW
Christian Siriano showed his opulent spring/summer 2019 collection at the equally stunning Gotham Hall. The show was inspired by a dream vacation to Hawaii and was filled with bright, bold colours and playful patterns punctuated with a political point.
This season had a stronger focus on separates than seasons prior. There were several well-designed outfits made in animal prints as well as an elegant textured raffia coat. Siriano presented these designs on models in a variety of sizes which reflect the women who are his growing group of devoted customers.
Siriano’s collection always has a strong focus on evening wear and this season was no exception. The dresses he showed were a romantic, tropical fantasy. A trio of flamingo pink cocktail dresses embellished with ruffles and feathers felt like a bouquet of tropical flowers. The showstopper was a lime green ball gown with a full skirt made of a multitude of ruffled chiffon layers.
Never one to shy away from politics, Siriano took a stand on the current gubernatorial race in New York. He showed a tee shirt that read “Vote for Cynthia” as a reference to Cynthia Nixon, formerly Miranda of Sex and the City, who was also in attendance at the show. In fact, the final image that the crowd was left with was was Siriano himself wearing a tee shirt that said “I’m voting for Cynthia” as he took his bow giving the impression that Siriano understands his impact and interests reach far beyond fashion.
