Though the globe took a much-needed pause in 2020, it was difficult to halt – and in most cases entirely erase – travel plans. As we mostly remain sitting in our makeshift home office spaces as remote working continues, daydreaming about foreign excursions can be a helpful way to get us through these sombre winter months at the start of a third lockdown.  As new itineraries are hopefully able to be conceived at some point this year, here are five stunning destinations to consider visiting this summer.

1. Baja’s East Cape, Mexico

Often described as a surfer’s dream getaway, Baja’s East Cape in Mexico is a location where catching the ideal wave is an everyday reality. The region – directly beneath California – is a tranquil spot for those who aren’t into water sports as well. Compared to the buzzing nightlife of nearby Cabo San Lucas, this locale has been steadily up-and-coming for resort-seekers and those who prefer a more laid back tropical experience.

2. Kea, Greece

Kea – one of 220 islands in Greece’s Cyclades group – is situated within the Aegean Sea. Compared to its nearby counterparts, however, it showcases an alternative landscape, filled with leafy, blossoming forests beside its tantalising beaches. Despite being a lesser-known destination, it is still easy to get to. Ferries from Athens depart multiple times daily and get to the paradise within an hour.

3. Seoul, South Korea

Seoul is often overlooked when most consider visiting East Asian cities. Similar to other metropolises, it boasts a neon fusion of contemporary pop culture and Buddhist temples. High-tech subways and eye-catching skyscrapers punctuate the sprawling destination, making it the perfect holiday for those craving a bit of fast-paced excitement post-lockdown. If looking for an incredible panorama of the city from a bird’s-eye view, plan to visit the 500-metre Seoul Tower which is composed of four observation decks and a rotating restaurant. South Korea is a tech hub and you can learn how to design an app or even just learn what a real money casino is here.

4. Loire Valley, France

Based within France’s rugged yet flora-filled central Ardèche region, Loire Valley is often referred to as the nation’s garden. The region boasts a kaleidoscopic array of history from chateaux dating back to the 15th century as lavish, aristocratic retreats, and fortified residences from as far as the Middle Ages. It is also home to some of the country’s freshest produce. Due to this spectacular food selection within the province, top restaurants in Paris source ingredients from the locale.

5. Lake Lucerne, Switzerland

This lake is ideal for those looking for a serene, alpine-scented vacation. Though somewhat similar to the icy landscape of a fjord, the area typically has a mild climate, perfect for a summer retreat. The complex, twisted shape of the body of water makes for a dynamic stay while still being able to easily access the amenities of the nearby town. The ferry service allows seamless transportation to different areas of the district, prompting visitors to take in the area’s fortified walls and any plush cows that may be roaming behind them. The village is composed of quaint shops and restaurants, punctuated by numerous monuments for any traveller to admire.
