Planning a trip to New York? Best fun activities to enjoy over there

New York is, of course, one of the more popular destinations on the planet and some would argue that there’s no better place to kick back and have fun. As to whether or not they’re right would be up each person to decide should they ever take a trip there.

And, just in case someone happened to be planning one, here’s this nifty little guide on some of the most fun things to do and best places to visit to experience a fun time.

Take a helicopter tour

Helicopter tours are a popular attraction in New York City and they’re usually a go-to for first-time visitors – unless, of course, they’re afraid of heights/flying. It’s one of the best ways to take all of the location’s best landmarks in and, if someone is an adventurous type, is definitely worth the while.

Check out the catacombs of the Basilica of St Patrick’s Old Cathedral

Going behind the scenes of the Basilica of St Patrick’s Old Cathedral would work out a treat someone up for a spooky night. Visitors are allowed access to the hidden spots and off-limit areas and can explore the only remaining catacombs in NYC.

Visit Taughannock Falls

Taughannock Falls, just off Cayuga Lake, is one of the most incredible spots to gaze upon. Coupled with the state park, this location is home to several breathtaking gorges and rim trails one can follow. Those can be shut off during poor weather so it’s worth checking the park’s official website before heading there.

For the gaming lovers

For someone into gaming there are many places including arcades, entertainment complexes and multi-level shops dedicated to videogames. Some of these properties – such as Del Lago Resort in Tyre, built in 2017 at a cost of $440 million – feature restaurants, bars, spas and boutiques.

Apart from physical venues, visitors can also participate in gaming online as platforms such as DraftKings NY always have fresh promos on offer.

Surely, Niagara Falls

It wouldn’t be right to take a leisurely trip to NY and not visit Niagara Falls. Quite possibly the most famous waterfall in all of North America, Niagara is a top attraction for tourists, which means it’s likely to find a crowd whenever someone visits.

It’s actually made up of three separate waterfalls, the American Falls, the Horseshoe Falls, and Bridal Veil Falls.

The experience will definitely be an unforgettable one.

Indoor skydiving

Most people aren’t into facing their fears and jumping out of airplanes like Will Smith. But you could totally enjoy the thrill of skydiving without any of the danger at iFly Westchester’s themed wind tunnel for indoor skydiving.

It’s not even necessary to jump.

There’s literally nothing dangerous about this, yet you could experience the feeling the people who jump out of aircraft experience.

Watkins Glen State Park

This park boasts a total of 18 waterfalls! Located at the bottom of Seneca lake, the Watkins Glen State Park is straight out of a fantasy movie.

There are also several trails that go across the park itself, providing top attractions for those fond of hiking.

Tame the beast

Okay, so this beast can’t actually be tamed. But you’ll enjoy the ride anyway.

The Beast is actually a luxury jet boat that offers adrenaline junkies an opportunity to speed across New York Bay. The ride presents many amazing sights, such as midtown and lower Manhattan, and the Statue of Liberty.

You do get to enjoy some trendy music while taking all of it in.

Albany

Albany, not New York City, is the state capital of New York. If you end up there, do check out some of the city’s culture, art, and history. Spots to explore are the State Capitol, the Schuyler Mansion, the Empire State Performing Arts Centre, the Shaker Heritage Society, and the New York Museum.

You could top the visit off with a beverage at the Nine Pin Cider works and gorge at the Athos restaurant.

Conquer Arcadia Earth

Arcadia Earth offers the opportunity to take a virtual reality tour through the earth. Visitors can enjoy a multi-sensory trip employing both virtual and augmented reality, plus project mapping, and interactive art installations.

The museum is located on Broadway.

Central Park

Last, but certainly not least, is Central Park. A New York trip would be incomplete without visiting there. Located in the middle of Manhattan, the park offers several things to do. It’s possible to take a guided bike tour around the park or get around via a horse-drawn carriage.

Central Park Zoo is also a great option but, for someone just up for a picnic, that’s possible too.
