Disfrutar team to open new Compartir restaurant in Barcelona

The chefs behind Barcelona sensation Disfrutar – Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch and Mateu Casañas – are opening a new restaurant in the capital of Catalonia. Compartir Barcelona will be the sister restaurant to Compartir Cadaqués, which is celebrating the tenth anniversary this year.

Located in Valencia Street 225 – the heart of Barcelona’s Eixample district – the restaurant is in a bright, spacious and comfortable space designed by El Equipo Creativo. They’ve been given the task to recreate part of the spirit representing Cadaqués, rather interpreted from an urban and contemporary perspective.

The restaurant has a spectacular metal structure which dates from the beginning of the century. It’s one of those places where oneself could imagine one of the plenty art galleries with large abstract paintings in the neighbourhood. And that’s how the design has been imagined: a large bright space, presided over by three large blue windows overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. The counterpoint is provided by the curved shapes of mirrors and light wicker and rattan screens, converted into warm lamps, which, placed spontaneously throughout the room, recreate an abstract landscape of boats and vaults.

To accomplish the new project, the trio – who notoriously had senior positions at the legendary ElBulli – teamed up with Nil Dulcet, the first head chef at Disfrutar. “Nil counts on our full trust to start this new project, becoming the director as well as our partner,” say the chefs.

Gastronomic offer

The gastronomic offer will be “à la carte” and to share – compartir means sharing in Spanish. It will be a modern, product-based proposal with traditional base, following the same philosophy as Compartir Cadaqués. However, it won’t be a replica: the style will be the same but applied to a different type of food.

Initially, the menu will feature some of the classic dishes found in Cadaqués, such as the beetroot salad, tuna cannelloni, liquid chocolate bonbons and hazelnut fondant. The bill is expected to be from 45-50 euros per person, to whatever the customer desires.
