How to deep cleanse whirlpool baths

How to deep cleanse whirlpool baths

Stepping into the bathroom to enjoy a few minutes (or hours) of a good soak is one of the best feelings in the world. The process doesn’t only cleanse the body from dead cells and nourishes the skin, but it also detoxifies the mind from all the stress of the day. Enjoying such quiet time allows users to recentre and find the balance, feeling refreshed afterwards.

However, one mustn’t forget that a whirlpool bath needs to be deep cleaned regularly, too. While some homeowners forget to rinse and wipe down their tubs after use, it shouldn’t be forgotten that a bath also needs some gentle TLC. Proper maintenance makes it possible to enjoy the benefits of the baths better as it can prevent bathers from getting a rash or any other skin disorder.

For someone who hasn’t got a clue how to clean a bath, here are some simple steps to follow.

Wipe away visible dirt and debris

After draining the tub, use a microfibre cloth or a clean sponge to wipe away visible dirt and grime off the surface. Any fallen hair must be removed because iy might add to problems later.

Fill the tub with hot water

It’s necessary to fill the tub with hot water, with at least two inches of water covering the jets for better cleaning. Hot water is much more efficient for cleaning than cold water, so don’t try to substitute.

Use cleaning agents

Next, it’s necessary to place two tablespoons of powdered or liquid dishwasher detergent directly into the water. Users can dissolve a dishwasher tablet in a cup of boiling water if that’s what they have. Add two cups of distilled white vinegar or for those who want to use liquid chlorine bleach, add a half-cup. A safety reminder is never to mix chlorine bleach and white vinegar because the fumes may be dangerous for some people. It’s important to use only one or the other, never in combination.

Turn on the jets

The jets should be run for a good 15 minutes with the air induction valves closed (unless specifically required by the manufacturer to leave them open). This process allows the water and cleaning agent mixture to circulate inside the internal plumbing. There’s no need to be alarmed when debris comes into the tub from the pipes, as it’s normal.

Drain the tub

After the 15-minute cycle, next it’s time to drain the tub and wipe away the debris with a microfibre cloth or a sponge. It’s essential to be as thorough as possible.

Refill the tub with cold water

After rinsing and wiping the tub, it should be refilled with cold or warm water. The tub needs several inches of water to cover the jets again.

Run the jets one more time

This time, the jets must be turned on high with the air induction valves opened, and let the tub run for another 15 minutes. Then the jets should be turned off and drain the tub once done.

Clean the fixtures

Using baking soda and a toothbrush, the jets need to be cleaned, including the intake cover, using a sponge with dampened baking soda. After this, users should wipe everything clean.

Takeaways

Cleaning whirlpool baths takes time but is an easy process. It’s important to do this regularly to have the best bathing experience.
