“The creatures are big metaphors to discuss anxiety, depression and the relationship between nature and man”: Rodrigo Santoro on Wolf Pack

“The creatures are big metaphors to discuss anxiety, depression and the relationship between nature and man”: Rodrigo Santoro on Wolf Pack

Brand-new supernatural series Wolf Pack is an action-packed coming-of-age drama developed by Jeff Davies and based on the book collection of the same name by Edo Van Belkom. Joining forces with Davies on this project is actress Sarah Michelle Gellar (known for her iconic role on the 90s show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer), who not only takes a lead role as investigative reporter Kristin Ramsay but is also executive producer.

The story follows two teenagers, Everett (Armani Jackson) and Blake (Bella Shepard), who form a life-changing bond after escaping a Californian forest wildfire that awakens a supernatural creature. The incident mirrors the same event from 16 years earlier with two siblings of the same age, Luna (Chloe Rose Robertson) and Harlan (Tyler Lawrence Grey), and, as their experiences merge, the horrors lurking in the shadows, adolescent emotions and the meaning of family all come to the surface as the full moon rises.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Rodrigo Santoro, who plays Garret Briggs, adoptive father to twins Luna and Harlan, who were orphaned in the previous fires. He discussed what drew him to the script, his role as the park ranger and the challenges of shooting many of the scenes at night. He also told us about working alongside Gellar and the metaphoric monsters that reflect the emotional stepping stones and anxiety of youth.
