“It’s probably the most insane action film you’ll have ever seen, certainly in modern times”: Scott Adkins on John Wick – Chapter 4

To find the very best in the action thriller game, you can look no further than the John Wick franchise, with the most recent offering managing to scale even greater heights than its predecessors in sheer ambition and uncompromising execution of its choreographed action set pieces, a unique black comedy-tinged tone that nonetheless is wholly seduced by its own rich mythological underpinnings and punky, neon-hued aesthetics.

The Upcoming had the chance to chat with one of the new actors brought into the John Wick fold for Chapter 4 – British actor and martial artist Scott Adkins. He teased the film as the wildest, most action-packed ride you’ll ever experience, applauded the franchise’s incredible world-building and originality and revealed he’d pestered director Chad Stahelski for a role since the very first film. We discussed the creation and unique challenges of his one-of-a-kind character, donning a fat suit, prosthetics and thick German accent as Killa, and the fun he had embracing his villainous side. Adkins further shared his experiences working alongside the ageless Keanu Reeves, praising his magnetic presence, honesty and likability, as well as Donnie Yen, Shamier Anderson, and the extraordinary set pieces that make John Wick 4 a visual feast. Lastly, Adkins hinted at his recent project, One More Shot, a groundbreaking action film shot in a single take.
