Real Estate announces autumn tour in UK and Europe following acclaim for new album Daniel

Following the successful launch of their sixth studio album Daniel last month, the acclaimed indie band Real Estate has now announced an Autumn tour across the UK and Europe. Set to start in Paris on 24th September and conclude in Glasgow on 6th October, this marks the band’s much-anticipated return to European stages after a seven-year hiatus. The tour will include a notable performance at London’s Hackney Church on 3rd October, among other key locations across the continent.

Critics have warmly received Daniel, attributing to it descriptions such as an “expert melancholy” by MOJO, and a “welcome return to form” by Record Collector, with both granting it a four-star rating. Guardian Guide praises the album for retaining the band’s signature “lovely, artisanal jangly indie” sound, affirming that continuity is a positive aspect. Clash and Dork have respectively described the album as a “Springtime joy” and “timeless,” showing the broad appeal of Real Estate’s latest work. Loud & Quiet and Far Out Magazine have also lauded the album, highlighting its comforting sound and deeming it potentially the band’s best work to date.

The tour announcement follows the revelation that Daniel was produced in collaboration with Grammy-winning Daniel Tashian (known for his work with Kacey Musgraves) during a nine-day recording spree at RCA Studio. The album is described as effortlessly artful, connecting the uninhibited wonder of the band’s early days with a mature perspective. It features 11 new tracks that maintain Real Estate’s characteristic sound, elevated by Tashian’s subtle yet significant production touches.

In a unique approach to album titling, the band named their latest project Daniel, a decision reflecting their ability to take their music seriously without overemphasising their own perception or taking themselves too seriously. This naming process came about during a moment of camaraderie and reflection, signifying the band’s journey and evolution.

Real Estate also celebrated the album’s release with unique events, including a sold-out in-store performance at London’s Rough Trade East and “The Daniel Show,” a unique album release show in New York. The band is currently engaged in an extensive North American tour, with details available on their website.

Tickets for the UK and European tour will go on sale this Friday, promising fans across the continent an opportunity to experience Real Estate’s timeless and artful music live. Daniel is available in various formats, including a limited Mart edition baby blue vinyl and an indie edition silver vinyl, alongside standard LP, CD and digital versions.
