Albert Adrià, chef-patron of the two-Michelin-starred Enigma in Barcelona, will cook alongside resident chefs Juan Carlos and Jonathan Padrón at El Rincón de Juan Carlos, the two-Michelin-starred restaurant at Royal Hideaway Corales Resort in Costa Adeje, Tenerife, for two nights this November. The six-hands collaboration marks the first edition of Inspirational Chef Stories, a reworked version of the resort’s chef residency programme, and takes Tenerife’s protected night sky as its theme.

The Inspirational Chef Programme has run since 2018 across ten editions, hosting big culinary names including Tim Boury, Massimo Bottura, Ana Roš, Diego Guerrero and the Torres brothers. Under the redeveloped format, each occasion will be built around a defining characteristic of the Canary Islands, linking gastronomy with the destination’s culture, science and landscape. November’s event is described as a two-way exchange, in which Adrià interprets Tenerife through his own creative approach while the Padrón brothers reconsider their own territory through an outside perspective.

The choice of astronomy as the inaugural theme is perfectly in keeping with Tenerife’s status as one of the world’s leading sites for stargazing. Spain passed legislation in 1988 to protect the island’s skies from light pollution, known as the Ley del Cielo (“Law of the Sky”) – the first of its kind internationally. Future editions are expected to focus on other aspects of the island, including its ocean, botany, geology and cultural heritage.

Each of the two days culminates in a collaborative dinner comprising a 12-course tasting menu, with six dishes contributed by each restaurant, alongside a wine pairing. The programme also includes a series of Inspirational Talks, open to both dinner guests and members of the public, addressing subjects connected to Tenerife’s landscape, Atlantic produce and gastronomic identity. There’s also a visit to the Izaña Observatory on Mount Teide on the cards, as well as a tasting at a winery practising biodynamic agriculture.

Adrià joined elBulli in 1985 and, alongside his brother Ferran Adrià, was closely involved in the restaurant’s development, later serving as director of the elBulli Workshop, where he focused on culinary research, technique and pastry. His subsequent projects have included Tickets, Pakta, Bodega 1900, Hoja Santa and Heart Ibiza, and most recently Enigma in Barcelona. Hosting him, El Rincón de Juan Carlos, which holds two Michelin stars and three Repsol Suns, is led by the Padrón brothers and draws on local produce and Atlantic ingredients.

Adrià and the Padróns’ tasting menu, which is restricted to guests aged over 16, is priced at €300 per person, with an optional wine pairing for an additional €160. Unfortunately the menu cannot be adapted for vegetarians or vegans, or for guests with allergies to fish, shellfish or lactose.
