Viggo Mortensen returns to the Western genre with The Dead Don’t Hurt

Signature Entertainment has unveiled the UK trailer for The Dead Don’t Hurt, a new Western starring Viggo Mortensen, set to hit UK and Irish cinemas on 7th June 2024. The film, directed and written by Mortensen, also features Vicky Krieps, Danny Huston, Garret Dillahunt and Solly McLeod.

Set in the 1860s, the narrative follows French-Canadian Vivienne, portrayed by Krieps, who falls in love with Danish immigrant Holger Olsen, played by Mortensen. The couple relocates to a frontier town in Nevada as the American Civil War looms. When Holger joins the Union forces, Vivienne faces threats from the town’s corrupt mayor (Huston), his rancher business partner (Dillahunt), and the rancher’s violent son (McLeod).

The film boasts a notable cast including Mortensen, renowned for his role in The Lord of the Rings, and Krieps, known for her performance in Phantom Thread, plus Colin Morgan from Merlin and Garret Dillahunt from No Country for Old Men.
