The much-anticipated documentary Becoming Led Zeppelin, which explores the origin and rapid ascent of the legendary rock band, is set to premiere in IMAX on 5th and 6th February 2024, followed by a wider release in cinemas from 7th February. Directed by Bernard MacMahon, the feature offers an unprecedented look at Led Zeppelin’s formative years, featuring exclusive, never-before-seen footage and performances.

Becoming Led Zeppelin is unique in that it is the first film about the band that has been officially sanctioned by its members. The documentary promises to provide a deep insight into the band’s creative process and personal stories, narrated in the musicians’ own words. This approach aims to present an authentic and immersive examination of one of music’s most storied bands.

Bernard MacMahon, the director, has crafted what he describes as an “experiential cinematic odyssey” that not only charts the band’s extraordinary rise to fame within just a year but also highlights their significant impact on the music industry and culture at large. The narrative is constructed around Led Zeppelin’s significant milestones and artistic achievements, set against the backdrop of the tumultuous late 1960s.

The documentary is expected to attract not only fans of Led Zeppelin but also enthusiasts of music documentaries and viewers interested in the history of rock music. With its exclusive footage and personal accounts, the film offers an intimate look at the inner workings of a band that has achieved almost mythical status over the decades.

As Becoming Led Zeppelin prepares for its theatrical release, it stands as a testament to the enduring legacy of the band and its influence on music and popular culture.
