Black Bear Pictures releases trailer for Stephen King adaptation The Monkey directed by Osgood Perkins

Black Bear Pictures has unveiled the official trailer for The Monkey, a new horror film directed by Osgood Perkins and based on a short story by acclaimed author Stephen King. The film, featuring actors Theo James, Tatiana Maslan, and Elijah Wood, is set to hit cinemas across the UK and Ireland on 21st February 2025.

The Monkey explores the chilling tale of twin brothers who encounter a sinister wind-up monkey toy that triggers a series of deadly events, tearing their family apart. The narrative picks up 25 years later as the cursed toy re-emerges, prompting a new series of killings and forcing the now-estranged brothers to face the dark forces linked to their past.

The movie is produced by James Wan, known for his work on successful horror franchises such as The Conjuring and Saw. Perkins, who previously wrote and directed Longlegs, brings his unique vision to the adaptation, promising a fresh interpretation of King’s haunting story.

The release of the trailer has generated buzz among King fans and horror enthusiasts, eager to see how Perkins has translated the short story’s tense atmosphere and psychological horror onto the big screen. As anticipation builds, The Monkey is expected to be a significant addition to the genre, blending King’s storytelling prowess with Perkins’ directorial flair in what could be one of 2025’s most compelling horror films.
