Himkok brings Nordic cocktail culture to Dram for one-night takeover

From 6 till 11pm on 30th June, Oslo-based cocktail bar and distillery Himkok will host a one-night event at Dram (the multi-level venue on Denmark Street in Soho), with the aim of introducing London guests to Nordic cocktail culture and Norwegian hospitality.

Himkok currently holds the number 11 spot on The World’s 50 Best Bars 2024, and is known for its creativity and use of local Norwegian produce. At this event, sponsored by Diageo and Schweppes, the bar will serve a range of Himhok’s tapped cocktails, including the Paloma and their Moscow Mule (made with Casamigos Mezcal and Don Julio Tequila, respectively). Attendees will be able to sample Alde Cider Rosé, a sparkling cider produced from Hardanger apples and raspberries grown beside Norway’s fjords, as well as Lervig pilsner from the well-known Scandinavian brewery. Also on the menu will be Thyme (Don Julio Blanco, Himkok gin, Italicus, apple and grape acidities), Strawberry (Tanqueray No. Ten, dry vermouth, strawberry and cardamom cordial, Peychaud’s bitter lemon juice and egg white), Walnut (Johnnie Walker Black Label, Campari Cask Tale, Solera 1847 sherry and walnuts) and Lychee & Tarragon (Botanist gin and Schweppes tropical soda). Dram, located within a Grade II listed building, has recently marked its tenth anniversary and is known for its forward-thinking approach to drinks service, making it a fitting venue.

The collaboration is described by organisers as “a meeting of similar philosophies”, with both offering casual intimacy across their venues. While the upstairs tap bar will bring a lively atmosphere with easily accessible drinks, the basement will provide a more relaxed, seated milieu. Himkok plans to take the opportunity to showcase some of its signature serves from the past decade, including the Birch – a martini variation featuring Ketel One vodka, Martini Bianco infused with birch leaves, and an olive stuffed with Kraftkar cheese.
