Dave Franco and Alison Brie face a rural nightmare in Michael Shanks’s upcoming horror film

The first trailer has dropped for Together, a chilling new feature from writer-director Michael Shanks, starring real-life couple Dave Franco (The Afterparty, Now You See Me) and Alison Brie (GLOW, Community). The film is set to hit UK cinemas on 15th August 2025.

In this tense rural horror, Franco and Brie play Tim and Millie, a long-term couple hoping to start anew by leaving behind their city life and moving to the countryside. But their attempt to rekindle their relationship away from the noise and pressure of urban living soon devolves into a waking nightmare.

As their personal tensions simmer beneath the surface, an encounter with a mysterious, otherworldly force threatens not just their future together, but their very humanity. What begins as a quiet domestic drama quickly spirals into a visceral tale of transformation, testing the boundaries of love, identity and flesh.

Shanks, best known for his inventive short films and cult-favourite web content, makes a confident leap into full-length psychological horror. The trailer hints at a slow-burning, emotionally-charged thriller with unsettling body horror elements and arresting visual style.

With its intimate two-hander cast and eerie setting, the film positions itself as a stripped-back yet deeply affecting take on the horror genre – one that explores how external forces can magnify internal fractures in a relationship.
