Trailer drops for Roofman, Derek Cianfrance’s stranger-than-fiction crime drama starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for Roofman, a gripping new feature from director Derek Cianfrance, based on the astonishing true story of Jeffrey Manchester – a man whose life of crime was as bizarre as it was compelling.

Channing Tatum stars as Manchester, a former Army Ranger and struggling father who embarks on an audacious string of McDonald’s robberies, breaking in through the roofs and earning the moniker “Roofman”. After escaping from prison, he pulls off his most astonishing feat yet: secretly living inside a Toys “R” Us for six months, surviving undetected while planning his next move.

But when he meets Leigh, a divorced mother played by Kirsten Dunst, his carefully constructed double life begins to unravel. What follows is a cat-and-mouse chase laced with charm, suspense and surprising humanity, as Manchester’s past begins to close in and the cracks in his reinvention start to show.

Written by Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, the film is produced by Jamie Patricof, Lynette Howell Taylor, Alex Orlovsky and others, with Cianfrance also serving as executive producer alongside Tatum. The star-studded cast includes Ben Mendelsohn, LaKeith Stanfield, Juno Temple, Melonie Diaz, Uzo Aduba, Jimmy O Yang, Lily Collias and Peter Dinklage.

With its stranger-than-fiction premise and Cianfrance’s signature blend of emotional depth and visual flair, Roofman looks set to be one of the year’s most intriguing releases.
