The 2025 British Grand Prix weekend began in emphatic style last night as Sam Fender took to the stage at Silverstone, delivering a headline performance that marked the start of four days of live music alongside the racing action.

The Tyneside singer-songwriter led a bill celebrating British talent, performing to a packed crowd with standout tracks including Seventeen Going Under, People Watching and Hypersonic Missiles. Fender’s commanding set followed a high-energy performance from indie act Blossoms, who opened the evening with favourites such as Charlemagne and Your Girlfriend.

Silverstone has expanded its live entertainment offering in recent years, positioning itself as a major summer festival as well as a key sporting fixture. Organisers expect another record-breaking turnout following 2024’s attendance of 480,000, with this year’s event marking 75 years since Silverstone hosted its first Formula 1 British Grand Prix.

The music programme continues tonight with Raye headlining her first UK outdoor show of 2025, joined by Jade. Saturday will see Fatboy Slim bring his signature sound to the stage, supported by Mabel, before Becky Hill closes the festival on Sunday, with support from Idris Elba.

Elsewhere, the T1 Afterparty series will showcase electronic acts including DJ Luck & MC Neat, Sub Focus and Mike Skinner of The Streets.

Silverstone’s Nick Read said the 2025 line-up reflected a commitment to showcasing British talent while celebrating the sport’s heritage.

In a nod to its automotive theme, Silverstone has introduced the eBay Garage at Beckett’s corner, featuring interactive activities, while eBay also sponsors the main stage hosting the weekend’s extensive live music programme.
