Michelin-starred chef Taro Noguchi to debut in London with exclusive omakase collaboration at LUNA

Michelin-starred Japanese chef Taro Noguchi will make his first appearance in London this July, collaborating with Executive Chef Leonard Tanyag of LUNA Omakase for a two-night-only dining event. The special omakase experience, part of LUNA’s new Chefs’ Collective series, will take place on Tuesday, 22nd and Wednesday, 23rd July at LUNA’s 12-seat chef’s counter, located on the ninth floor of 100 Liverpool Street.

The collaboration will see Noguchi, chef-owner of the Michelin-starred Noguchi restaurant in Osaka, join forces with Tanyag to deliver a bespoke tasting menu that merges their respective culinary approaches. The event marks the first edition of the Chefs’ Collective, a new initiative by LUNA Omakase aimed at showcasing innovative talents in contemporary gastronomy.

Known for his theatrical and emotionally resonant omakase style, Noguchi is self-taught and has gained a reputation for turning traditional Japanese dining into a multisensory experience. His cooking incorporates elements such as smoke and texture to heighten the overall impact of each dish. “Fun is the ultimate value in dining,” Noguchi has said, a philosophy reflected in his ever-evolving menus.

The collaborative dinners will be held at LUNA’s discreet 12-seat omakase counter, described as the City’s highest and most intimate of its kind. Guests will be served a specially curated multi-course menu that combines the chefs’ individual styles, offering an experience rooted in traditional techniques but open to innovation.

Chef Leonard Tanyag, who leads LUNA’s kitchen, is known for his Sosaku-style Edomae omakase — a modern interpretation of traditional Japanese sushi that draws inspiration from the phases of the moon. The restaurant’s seasonal 12-course menu often reflects this lunar influence, aiming to evoke mood and emotion through food.

For the nights, there will be three seatings, at 8 PM on Tuesday, at 6:00 PM and 8:30 PM on Wednesday. As for the drinks, three options are available: sake, classic wine and premium wine pairing.
