“It’s really important that these kind of events are happening”: Katy J Pearson on performing at the 100 Club for War Child – Day of the Girl

Acclaimed British indie-pop artist Katy J Pearson joined forces with the charity War Child to help lend her support to the Day of the Girl campaign. Performing at the iconic 100 Club in London alongside other acclaimed musicians, the evening was a way to raise awareness and vital funds to support those living in crisis.
There are around 612 million women and girls living in areas of conflict zones where menstrual supplies and safe, clean spaces are minimal. There is also the constant threat of violence and sexual exploitation due to gender. The charity War Child started the Day of the Girl campaign in 2021 with the intention of garnering support to eliminate the negative impact on these communities of vulnerable women and girls.
The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Pearson ahead of the performance about her collaboration with the charity, how she felt about the work they achieve for girls living in turbulent times and what she hopes people will feel from being a part of the campaign by attending the gig and offering their support.
