Orient Express La Minerva unveils four signature suites in historic heart of Rome

Orient Express La Minerva in Rome has unveiled new accomodation, opened on Friday. Located in the heart of the Italian capital, the hotel has introduced four individually designed suites – Stendhal, Obelisco, La Minerva and Orient Expresseach drawing on the city’s historic and architectural heritage and offering a high-end hospitality experience through bespoke design, curated artwork and personalised services.

The signature suites are part of the brand’s first hotel, La Minerva, which opened in spring of this year. Housed within the 17th-century Palazzo Fonseca, the property overlooks the Pantheon and Piazza della Minerva. The new spaces were conceptualised by artist-architect Hugo Toro, who designed custom furnishings and interiors inspired by the city’s classical and contemporary aesthetics. Each is named to reflect a connection with Roman or Orient Express history.

The Stendhal, at 89 square metres, pays homage to the French writer who once stayed at the property. It features vaulted ceilings with restored frescoes, a Rosso Verona marble bathroom, and impressive views. The La Minerva suite, measuring 108 square metres, is situated on the top floor and references the Roman goddess of wisdom. It includes a private dining room, kitchen and marble bathroom, and can be connected to an adjacent suite to form a two-bedroom apartment. At 133 square metres, the Obelisco is designed as a standalone residence, centred around a travertine fireplace and a curved joinery piece that functions as both minibar and sideboard. It includes a kitchenette, dressing room and a record player with a curated vinyl selection. The largest of the four, the Orient Express spans 190 square metres. It features a sculptural sofa-library hybrid, a study and a Rosso Verona marble bathroom. Like the Obelisco, it can be extended into a two-bedroom apartment.

All suites include services such as private airport transfers, laundry, a dedicated guest experience team and a 60-minute spa treatment for two. Nightly rates begin at €7,000 for the Stendhal and reach €23,000 for the Orient Express.

The launch marks a continued expansion of the brand, which is owned by Accor and recently entered a strategic partnership with LVMH to accelerate development. Orient Express La Minerva is the first of several planned properties, with future openings including the Palazzo Donà Giovannelli in Venice and a series of luxury sailing yachts.
