Doughnation Pizza launches junior chef competition for children during October half term

Doughnation Pizza in Covent Garden is inviting children aged 12 and under to participate in a creative culinary competition during the October half term. From Friday 24th October to Sunday 2nd November, young visitors to the pizzeria will have the opportunity to design their own pie in the hopes of being selected as the restaurant’s new junior pizza chef. The initiative aims to engage children in the kitchen during the school break by encouraging them to experiment with flavours and ingredients.
With the winner to be announced on 3th November, entrants are asked to sketch their creation, name it, list their chosen toppings and then hand in their idea at the restaurant, along with contact details. The winning design will be selected by the artisan pizzeria’s head chef, who will assess entries based on originality and flavour combinations. The chosen pizza will then be added as a special item on the restaurant’s menu for a full month. As part of the prize, the winner and their family – up to two adults and two children – will be invited back to Doughnation for a complimentary meal, where they will be able to try the winning pizza as it is served to customers.
While the competition is designed to be a fun experience for families, there are some terms and conditions to keep in mind. Firstly, all entries must be received by the closing date. Only one winner will be selected, and the final recipe may be adapted by the chefs to ensure quality and consistency. The restaurant also asks that the junior pizza chef’s family allow them to share details of the winning design on their social media. Finally, the complimentary family meal must be booked in advance and redeemed during November 2025.
