Ice Spice joins SpongeBob’s biggest adventure yet in The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants

SpongeBob SquarePants is heading back to the big screen this December in The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants, the latest seafaring adventure from Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies. The new film lands in UK cinemas on 20th December 2025, featuring hip-hop star Ice Spice in her voice acting debut and performing an original track titled Big Guy.

This time, SpongeBob is determined to prove his bravery to Mr Krabs and embarks on a wild quest to follow the ghostly pirate The Flying Dutchman. What begins as a test of courage soon spirals into a deep-sea epic that takes him – and his Bikini Bottom friends – to uncharted territory, where the stakes are higher than ever.

Tom Kenny returns as the voice of SpongeBob, joined by the show’s regular cast, including Clancy Brown, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence and Mr Lawrence. The movie also welcomes new cast members George Lopez, Arturo Castro, Sherry Cola, Regina Hall and Mark Hamill, alongside Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston, whose involvement brings a fresh musical edge to the franchise.

Directed by Derek Drymon, the feature is based on the original series created by Stephen Hillenburg and written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman. The story was developed by Marc Ceccarelli, Kaz and Brady with Lisa Stewart, Pam Brady and Aaron Dem producing.

The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants promises a high-energy, family-friendly ride packed with laughs, music and plenty of undersea mayhem – just in time for Christmas.
