Power, paranoia and deepfakes: Holliday Grainger returns in first look at The Capture series thre

The BBC has unveiled a new image of Holliday Grainger in the upcoming third series of its hit surveillance thriller The Capture, set to arrive on BBC One and BBC iPlayer in Spring 2026.

The image offers a first glimpse of Grainger’s return as DCI Rachel Carey, now Acting Commander of Counter Terrorism Command. Set one year after the events of series two, the six-part drama sees Carey grappling with the fallout from her explosive live broadcast that exposed a secret government deepfake programme known as Correction.

Still fighting to rebuild public trust in surveillance technology, Carey is now fronting Operation Veritas – a supposedly transparent new camera system – when a devastating act of terrorism shakes the British establishment. The attack leaves only one witness, and as Carey digs deeper into the conspiracy, she finds herself at the centre of an escalating crisis that threatens to engulf the government, the security services and the media.

With loyalties tested and the truth more elusive than ever, The Capture returns to ask urgent questions about power, technology, and the battle over what – and who – we believe.

The third series is created, written, and executive-produced by Ben Chanan and produced by Heyday Television (a part of Universal International Studios).
