On the red carpet of the Red Sea Film Festival, The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking with acclaimed actress Juliette Binoche, who presented her documentary In-I In Motion. This film, Binoche’s directing debut, documents her artistic collaboration with British dancer and choreographer Akram Khan, revealing the creative process behind their 2008 hybrid stage production In-I.

Binoche shared her personal experience with this demanding art form, emphasising the dedication and will it requires. She spoke about her belief that “the body is listening to our will”, reflecting on how the body responds to rigorous training. She also passionately explained the need to give voice to diverse realities, particularly from the Middle East and Asia, and stressed cinema’s importance in promoting understanding and opening minds. Binoche further considered the hope represented by emerging talents and the power that arises from venturing into new creative territories.
