“I feel like I’m making a film about us”: Patric Chiha on A Russian Winter at Berlin Film Festival 2026
Director Patric Chiha, whose background spans both fashion design and filmmaking, presented his compelling new film A Russian Winter at the Berlin Film Festival 2026. Inspired by powerful images of Russians fleeing their country in 2022, Chiha explores universal themes of identity, resistance and navigating a chaotic world. Emphasising his improvisational and collaborative approach, he reflects: “I feel like I’m making a film about us,” describing his desire to create films with people rather than simply about them. His documentary delves into complex questions of power, powerlessness and the capacity to resist, inviting audiences to reflect on what it means to flee and survive in turbulent times.
