Tozi Victoria unveils spring menu with Venetian small plates and tableside Negroni trolley

Yesterday, Tozi, the Italian restaurant and bar on Gillingham Street in Victoria, launched a new spring menu from head chef Maurilio Molteni. The updated selection covers cicchetti, handmade pasta, larger sharing plates and a dedicated cocktail trolley, cementing their focus on Italian regional cooking and communal dining.

Cicchetti – Venetian-inspired small plates intended for sharing – are at the centre of the menu. New additions include a yellowtail carpaccio with sun-dried tomatoes, olives and basil, burrata with heritage tomatoes, basil and pesto, and a courgette, potato and basil soup served with smoked ricotta.

The handmade pasta selection includes Maccheroni with rabbit ragout, Taggiasca olives and thyme, Paccheri prepared in the Neapolitan tradition, with braised baby octopus, tomato and basil, and Rustichelle with peas, asparagus and Tuscan pecorino. Among the larger plates are slow-roasted Welsh lamb shoulder with braised cannellini beans, and grilled sea bream with fennel, samphire and salmoriglio. The menu concludes with an Amalfi lemon, ricotta and pine nut tart served alongside raspberry sorbet.

A notable element of the experience is the restaurant’s Negroni trolley, which presents eight variations on the Italian classic, each prepared and served tableside. Options range from the American in Rome (a combination of Campari, Savoia Americano, plum juice and Fever-Tree Indian Tonic) to the Amphora Negroni, made with Seven Hills gin, Mancino Amaranto, Mancino Chinato and Rinomato. A spring-specific addition comes in the form of the Princess Peach, which combines bergamot, fresh peach, gin, tonic and foam. The wine list focuses on Italian regional producers, with an emphasis on small-batch and lesser-known labels from across the country.

Tozi takes its name from a Venetian slang term meaning “a close-knit group of friends” – a concept that informs its approach to hospitality and shared dining. It opened more than a decade ago and is still run by its original team. In addition to head chef Maurilio Molteni, the eatery operates under senior restaurant and bar manager Stefano Meloni, restaurant manager Carlo Consoli and sous chef Francesco Vacca. In March 2025, Tozi was awarded Authentic Italian Restaurant Quality Approval by the Italian Chamber of Commerce in recognition of its commitment to the country’s culinary standards.

Set menus are priced from £23.95 per person, inclusive of sharing dishes, bread and coffee, making the offering accessible for weekday lunches and pre-theatre dining. Group evening bookings can choose from cicchetti feasting menus starting at £38 per person.

The restaurant is open Tuesday to Friday from noon till 9.30pm and on Saturdays from 12.30pm until 9.30pm. It is closed on Sundays and Mondays.
