The BBC has confirmed that long-running hit Death in Paradise will return for a further two series, alongside two new Christmas specials, as filming gets underway in Guadeloupe.

One of the UK’s most popular dramas, the sun-soaked detective series continues to follow the mysteries unfolding on the fictional island of Saint Marie. The new episodes will see the return of Don Gilet as DI Mervin Wilson, alongside Don Warrington, Shantol Jackson, Shaquille Ali-Yebuah, Catherine Garton and Élizabeth Bourgine.

Known for its blend of classic whodunnits, humour and escapist charm, the series has built a global following over the past 15 years, with audiences in more than 230 territories.

Lindsay Salt, Director of BBC Drama, said: “Death in Paradise is a global phenomenon and we are incredibly proud to have it on the BBC, where it goes from strength to strength. It’s with great pleasure that we share the news that we’ll be returning to Saint Marie for two more sun-soaked series and Christmas specials.”

The show’s continued success has also led to an expanding franchise, including spin-offs Beyond Paradise and Return to Paradise, further cementing its place as one of the BBC’s most enduring drama brands.

The upcoming instalments promise more mysteries, guest stars and surprises, with further details to be announced in due course.
