Lydia West stars in He Had It Coming, an Australian comedy-drama that blends campus activism with murder mystery, arriving on BBC iPlayer next month before airing on BBC Three.

West plays Elise, a British scholarship student who strikes up an unlikely friendship with fashion influencer Barbara, played by Natasha Liu Bordizzo. After a drunken act of feminist protest sees the pair vandalise a statue of their university’s male founder, they wake to find the institution’s star athlete dead at the foot of their artwork. Suddenly linked to the crime, the two must uncover the real killer while evading suspicion themselves.

The eight-part series also stars Yellowjackets actor Liv Hewson as Detective Shepherd, who begins piecing together the evidence, while singer and actor Cody Simpson makes a special appearance as the murdered athlete. Created by Gretel Vella and Craig Anderson, He Had It Coming is directed by Rachel House and Anne Renton and produced by Jungle Entertainment for Australian streamer Stan.

The BBC has acquired the series from distributor FIFTH SEASON, bringing the darkly comic whodunnit to UK audiences following its Australian debut.
