Shaun the Sheep recruits Nina Sosanya, Paul Whitehouse and Roman Kemp for The Beast of Mossy Bottom

Mossy Bottom is welcoming a few new voices this autumn, with Nina Sosanya, Paul Whitehouse and Roman Kemp joining the cast of Aardman’s third Shaun the Sheep movie, The Beast of Mossy Bottom. The Halloween-set adventure will also feature a new version of the familiar Life’s a Treat theme from Rizzle Kicks.

Sosanya voices Mossingham’s vet, while Whitehouse takes on the role of the local shopkeeper and Kemp appears as a pizza boy. Dani Dyer, previously announced in her first animation voice role, plays the town’s social media-savvy influencer, while Justin Fletcher returns as Shaun and Timmy.

Rizzle Kicks are also returning to the world of Shaun the Sheep, having previously reworked Life’s a Treat for the first instalment in 2015. Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule have created another remix of the theme for the new film, which will play over the end credits.

This time, Shaun’s troubles begin as Mossy Bottom Farm prepares for Halloween. After the Farmer accidentally destroys the flock’s prized pumpkin patch, Shaun decides to play mad scientist in an attempt to put things right. Inevitably, the experiment doesn’t go quite to plan: the Farmer disappears, and reports of a mysterious beast roaming the woods of Mossingham soon follow.

The film arrives more than 30 years after Shaun made his debut in Wallace & Gromit: A Close Shave. It follows 2015’s Shaun the Sheep Movie and 2019’s A Shaun the Sheep Movie: Farmageddon, both of which received Academy Award and BAFTA nominations.

The Beast of Mossy Bottom is written by Mark Burton, whose credits include Wallace & Gromit: Vengeance Most Fowl and Paddington in Peru, alongside Giles Pilbrow, and is directed by Steve Cox and Matthew Walker. Richard Beek produces, with Aardman co-founder Peter Lord and Wallace & Gromit creator Nick Park among the executive producers.

With Halloween mayhem, a monster loose in the woods and Shaun apparently dabbling in questionable science, the new chapter gives Mossy Bottom a distinctly spooky makeover – while bringing some familiar British voices along for the chaos.
