The Crocs bite seems to be everlasting
Crocs are now a glamorous ten years old. Having been established in 2002, they originally came with the non-sexy advertising as ideal for boating, being waterproof and non-slip.
If you haven’t heard of the shoes crocs by now, let me enlighten you. Crocs originally began as non-slip enclosed sandals. The clogs that everyone in the world associates with Crocs are now ten years old and iconic. Crocs are certainly forerunners in lightweight yet durable materials, and shoes that last long and still look good are a money saver if nothing else.
The beginning of January saw Crocs announce record sales. It is now a very proud billion pounds company, and in a time of recession this indicates not just a fad but also a phenomena. There must have been extremely happy shareholders with a spike of 16% in shares.
The forward thinking CEO of Crocs, Mr John McCarvel, led them to move into accessories and other footwear. They now host ballet flats and boots in their collection. The year 2011 saw accessories galore from Crocs with the addition of hats, gloves, and socks.
Crocs boast health benefits related to ergonomics and back pain. Crocs are also continually worn by the medical profession for comfort and for protection with the enclosed toes style. They are endorsed however with emphasis on the bright colours cheering up wards around hospitals.
And as far as the A-listers are concerned, this year we will see Sasha Baron Cohen flaunt the Crocs in his new film The Dictator. Are you convinced yet?
