Global Angel Awards: Philanthropy, celebrities and music at the Roundhouse

On Friday the Global Angels Foundation hosted the third annual Global Angel Awards ceremony at the legendary Roundhouse in Chalk Farm.  The awards honoured “inspirational people and businesses who are leading the way in philanthropy”.

The event was attended by a number of well recognised names welcomed with red carpet treatment, among them Lizzie Cundy, Amelle (Sugar Babes), Esther Rantzen, Jackie St. Claire, DJ Krystal Roxx or singer/songwriter Raphaella. This year’s event was set to be a musical treat with highly acclaimed Grammy and Brit-nominated singer/songwriter Natasha Bedingfield headlining the awards concert and joined on stage by Nicole Scherzinger.

On her arrival, Bedingfield explained that her mother (Molly Bedingfield, founder and CEO of Global Angels) “is very passionate about this and it’s a wonderful feeling being involved and bringing the music element to this whole show”. Bedingfield, working on her new album, said she was excited about the performance with Scherzinger: “Nicole and I have known each other for quite a while now and have become very close friends. I’m going to enjoy bringing that energy to the stage. We haven’t performed together before so we will have fun”.

The evening was hosted by Russ Kane (Capital Radio presenter of The Flying Eye) and Ha Anh Vu, the international supermodel who presented Vietnam’s Next Top Model. There were six awards presented in total: Business Game Changer, Business with Exceptional DNA, Social Change Maker, Outstanding Corporate Angel, Voice For Good, Heart of Gold and Inspirational Angel.

Following the awards, the concert started with Bedingfield vigorously performing These Words, Pocket Full of Sunshine and I Bruise Easily. Scherzinger then took the stage to the delight of the audience and her performance of Whatever You Like was enthusiastically celebrated by the crowd. The night’s highlight came when Bedingfield joined her on stage to perform a cover of Rufus & Chaka Khan’s classic Ain’t Nobody. An entertaining celebration of fame and philanthropy.
