Juma: Unisex ready to wear

Juma: Unisex ready to wear

With a Biosystems Engineering degree from McGill University, the only natural progression would be to jump into the fashion world with your sister, right? Well that is exactly what Canadian siblings Jamil and Alia, an assistant designer, did.  Beginning in 2003, the pair set out on their own to create a contemporary clothing line for men and women. This well-travelled pair based their designs on their travels around the world and any inspirational art they came across. Together they co-design the collection “with a clear vision of the Juma look and an instinctive understanding of fashion and design.”

Juma has since grown into a Mecca to find interesting and one-of-a-kind printed dresses, tops, and unisex scarves. The Juma men’s line includes the Kurta Pant that features a fashion-forward stretchy, drop-crotch pant in black or green. To complete the outfit you can choose from one of the many unisex 45-inch square scarves featuring an unlikely combination of industrial and natural element prints on silk-wool and silk-twill fabrics.

The Juma women’s line is unique in its own, incorporating many of their interesting prints on full-length silky button-down dresses or biased cut scoop-neck tops. Each scarf is laser printed in-house at the Juma studio and is certainly a piece of art in its own. We are dying to get our hands on one of these cool scarves, perfect for every season!
