Having sprung onto the scene in 2012, with her haunting and distinctive voice, Lana Del Rey has since been in the media spotlight. The 29-year-old singer has not only made a name for herself in the music industry, but has also been conversed over by many in the fashion world too.

Through Lana’s campaign with H&M and gracing the covers of magazines such as Vogue and Glamour, she has become a contemporary fashion icon. Her style is both retro, festival chic, with classic shapes and a hint of gothic. We have watched her style evolve and have gathered some of her most memorable outfits to outline her rise to “it” girl status.

At the EMA awards in 2012, Lana looked elegant and poised in this midnight blue gown. Her understated, silver jewellery worked perfectly with the dress and accentuated the draped, wrap-over shape. Her smoky eyes and matching black heels made this look simple and sweet.

In 2012, when Twilight was still the film of the moment, Lana literally vamped it up at the Met Gala with dark lips and a jet-black cape. She dazzled in the hand-embroidered silver gown – the strapless shape adding focus to her fabulous figure.

Off-duty, Lana looks as though she is dressed for the Coachella festival. A much more laid-back look, she is used to wearing Converse and flannel shirts. We love her band t-shirts and staple denim shorts; an edgy and “thrown-together” look which simply complements her!

During the launch of The Great Gatsby, Lana looked every bit the part in this beautifully intricate monochrome dress. Wearing her signature eyeliner flicks and vintage-style curled hair, she could have easily blended into the film set. This dress radiated retro Hollywood glamour and showed her more mature and sophisticated side.

This year, Miss Del Rey turned up to the Golden Globes in this low-plunging, silky number. Hailed as a “70s mermaid” by some, this turquoise gown is actually bang on this season’s trend. Her infamous beehive hairdo and painted lips are still present, yet she manages to be innovative with her varying style choices.
