Lacoste A/W15 footwear collection: a 1933 tribute with a modern twist

Lacoste reflected on their heritage with their latest footwear collection – mirroring the days of founder and renowned tennis legend René Lacoste, who inspired a revolution in men’s court fashion back in 1933. Taking place at London’s Hus Gallery, the room echoed understated, modern class, with fashionistas eager to get their teeth into some of Lacoste’s latest offerings.

The theme of the classic Straightset range resonates casual luxury. This season Lacoste have based their colours on the shades of their signature polo shirts – a smart and logical move. Composed of premium canvas fabrics, this range sees the court-inspired shoe restructured to include further touches of luxury. Similarly to this style, the Understated Court classic shoe develops on the canvas range, with models now coming in rich shades of suede and premium leathers reflecting the oncoming season. Vitalising colours were also on show, particularly plentiful for women – fresh mint and baby pink shades as well as an eye catching metallic gold, undoubtedly due to be bestsellers.

The heritage theme continued through retro designs in the form of chunky trainers with the premium twist of high frequency embossing of the signature crocodile logo. The structure may have been adapted, yet the footwear is still completely practical whether you are a sporting character or city dweller. Styles are also very lightweight for added comfort and ease of movement.

Lacoste are also offering contemporary designs, yet drawing inspiration from the past. Sailing North sees influences of the hiking boot, bringing practicality for the autumn and winter months, as the boots are made of high-quality and hard-wearing materials to ensure durability. Furthermore, for the first time in a number of seasons, Lacoste are showcasing knee-high boots for women – an unexpected design for the brand to exhibit. The boots are available in leather and suede, in shades of tan and black.

Lacoste Live touches on a more urban theme yet comfort and practicality aren’t compromised. Women’s platform trainers were a popular talking point, available in baby pink, white and beige hues. High tops were also dominant in this range, seen in dark colours with a contrasting sole. The vibe was stylishly cool, fresh and metropolitan.

There are lots of elements to Lacoste’s collection, making the range so versatile. From the minimalistic classics of the Straightset range to the urban ambience of Lacoste Live, the autumn/winter 2015 collection is sure to appeal to a wide range of fashionable crowds.
