The Devil Wears Prada is set to be made into a stage musical

For all of you fashion-loving, rom-com film buffs, the fact that The Devil Wears Prada is being made into a musical, must be music to your ears. Literally.

That’s right, it looks like the fashion film favourite will be seen in a very different light, on the stage of Broadway and is already said to hit the big time when released.

The film was first released in 2006, an adaption of the novel by author Lauren Weisberger. The picture features big stars Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt. Streep plays cold, stern fashion magazine editor, Miranda Priestly and Hathaway plays the role of her Bambi-eyed graduate assistant.

Producer Kevin McCollum, already famed for creating Rent and Avenue Q on Broadway, will be creating this production. He has also recently signed a deal with 20th Century Fox, to bring popular movies, such as Mrs Doubtfire, to life in the big lights.

So, who will be playing who in the musical? Well, obviously rumours have been flying as to whether the trio will return, but nothing has been set in stone as of yet. We know they all can sing, but do they have what it takes to be all dancing and jazz hands? We just don’t know.

“I think I would do it. We all were told to go on these skinny diets for the first time, but I’d be up for it.” Blunt said, when asked about slipping on the shoes of comedic assistant Emily again.

Whether or not we see the characters played by our beloved celebs, we are sure there are millions of other girls that would kill for that job. One thing is for sure, we are bound to see lots of glitz, glam, stilettos, Starbucks and Prada, of course!
