The National Portrait Gallery is holding a celebratory exhibition, Vogue 100: A Century of Style, in 2016 to honour British Vogue’s centenary. After 100 years in the business of creating inspirational fashion content, the Conde Nast archives were full to the brim of incredible fashion photography, which the exhibition curator was able to sieve through and select the most iconic pieces to showcase.

Starting as a high-society newsletter and later transformed into the “fashion bible”, Vogue has included the work of the most influential fashion photographers over the last 100 years, such as Mario Testino, Herb Ritz, Cecile Beaton, Irvine Penn and David Bailey. The exhibition that will open on 11^th February is said to tell the story of Vogue through images which feature a whole host of famous faces, from the likes of Fred Astaire to Anne Gunning, Linda Evangelista to Kate Moss.

“I am incredibly proud of this collection of exceptional photography and of the whole concept of the exhibition, which shows the breadth and depth of the work commissioned by the magazine as well as Vogue’s involvement in the creation of that work,” says Alexandra Shulman, long-standing editor-in-chief of the magazine.
