The creative genius of jewellery designer Husam El Odeh far outshines his renown amongst those whose sartorial interests fail to stretch beyond high street fashion.

Yet the luxurious output of Husam, whose work has adorned celebrities, has commanded all areas of the industry, prettified the pages of the glossies and even surreptitiously collaborated with the Tops – man and shop. Appropriately revered with an award, amongst many others, from the British Fashion Council, as Emerging Accessories designer of 2010, Husam has transcended the trajectory expected of this prescient prize.

Within just a few seasons since the British Fashion Council validated his excellence, Husam has diversified his range further, branching out beyond the limitation of jewellery design to accessorise for Pringle of Scotland’s Autumn/Winter 2012 collection.

Working alongside Alistair Carr, their concerted postmodernist creation, conceptualised through footwear, displays the versatility of Husam: along with his surrealist eyewear, Husam is able to separate the idiosyncratic omnipresence of metalwork that encapsulates his own collections from the blithe pieces which enlivened Pringle’s runway.

While the price of his A/W 2012 Fine Jewellery collection may exceed even an extravagant budget – with pieces starting at £1,500 – neither the intricacy of design, nor the delicacy of production is lost in Husam’s main range, where prices are more obtainable and the selection is greater. Excelling in the unique amalgamation of materials, such as the vintage inspired silver and topaz coin necklace, and his preference of combining silver and pearl, Husam’s pieces are understated yet atypical.

The distinctiveness of his pearl ear cuff and the attentiveness of his ring design – double rather than single bands – further distances his esteemed work from high street trinkets. Having already crafted a brand that is the jewel of Britain’s accessory design, Husam El Odeh’s prosperity is as rich as his luxurious creations.
