LP at Koko

With the upcoming UK release of her fourth studio album, Lost on You, LP provides Koko with a pretty atmospheric and impressive performance. The venue is buzzing before she gets on stage, and it’s no surprise. Track Lost on You topped singles charts worldwide, reaching over 100 million views on YouTube, and with songwriting credits for artists like Rita Ora, Rihanna, and Christina Aguilera, LP has been sharing her talent for years. As soon as she steps onto the stage, tambourine in hand, the audience is electrified by her, and her interesting mix of indie-pop.

Breaking into Muddy Waters, the Los Angeles-based singer’s incredibly unique vocals envelop the venue. There’s no escaping her rich and textured performance as she sings about forgiveness, love and morality. Throughout the artist’s set the quality and variety she employs with her voice is impressive. She dips into different styles and facilitates them with ease. From rock, shrill falsetto, whistling, soft balladry, to lung-busting belters, LP’s exceptional voice is exhibited and uninhibited, and it’s enchanting to watch. Understandably, the crowd love her. When she whips out her harmonica during Strange, everyone cheers and dances along with her solo. Even as she picks up her guitar and breaks into the instantly catchy Up Against Me, the concertgoers follow her lead and move and sing along. While her stage presence is slightly tame, her demeanour offers a lot of attitude and enough to interest and captivate her fans.

With tracks that are at points evocative and introspective, and at others emphatic and electric, LP is an eclectic artist. Her performance is nothing short of flawless, and her effect is seen of the faces on the audience. They smile, they sing with her and they dance, all in awe of the prowess of LP’s style, stage presence, and powerful songs.
