Best hairstyles for a summer workout

Best hairstyles for a summer workout

It’s no secret that these ever soaring temperatures are making our workouts even tougher than usual. The last thing we need to be contending with is stray hairs sticking to our necks and faces! Make sure you’re ready to work without any distractions and take note of these pretty and practical hair styles to keep your locks firmly in place. These looks will remain comfortable and stylish even when you’re a hot, sweaty mess.

Dutch braids

Dutch braids may take a little longer that your standard Wednesday Adams plaits but are well worth it for the style factor. Their main attraction however is they stay contained towards the back of your head and away from your eyes.

A bunched ponytail

A standard ponytail is of course the classic workout hairstyle but if you find yours is waving around a little too much or your hair is very long, try a bunched one instead. Simply tie up your hair as usual, then starting from the top, work your way down tying clear bands around the ponytail equal distances apart.

Messy space buns

The key here is to keep your space buns nice and high to keep you cool. No need to be neat with this style, simply separate your hair into two sections and secure with hair bands. Flip your head forward and twist each section individually until it begins to resemble a bun, and then secure.

Dutch braid buns

If you love the Dutch braid style but your workout is particularly energetic, that’s no problem! Simply stop the ends from swinging around by twisting them in to a bun shapes and securing with grips or no-snag bands.

Braided ponytail

This ultra cool style works with both a Dutch or French braid. Begin at the front of your head as you would with your normal braid but once you get towards the back of your head, stop plaiting and gather all remaining hair into a high ponytail.

Pull through braid

This one is perfect for those with short hair who don’t want a thousand clips holding their hair in place. A pull-through braid even works on hair that’s shorter than shoulder length and surprisingly takes just minutes to create.
