Son Jung Wan spring/summer 2019 collection catwalk show for NYFW
Son Jung Wan’s new collection blew show-goers into a whole new realm of lively summer fashion. From flowers and a vibrant colour palette to sequins and pastels, Wan showcased a truly impressive array of seasonal designs for both men and women.
The simple, exquisite atmosphere and music allowed the audience to examine the delicate details of Wan’s unique display. Sequins stole the show by accompanying almost every look, even adorning the faces of the models. The bold makeup with eyebrows fully covered in glitter helped capture the techniques of the designer’s work. The smooth, slick ponytails allowed a clean pathway for the viewer to focus on the pieces. The collection featured three prominent patterns: florals, polka dots and stark white checkered fabric. Each piece showcased these features individually.
To start the show, the green, yellow and pink flowers enabled a new combination of elements. High collars, shorts and capes added to the distinct looks paired alongside dresses and tops. A vast array of shapes embodied Wan’s patterns, including a ruffled romper. This dandelion yellow piece captures the spring season, paired with gold sequined shorts.
Moving forward, the powder blue polka dot pieces granted access to the delicate nature of the silk. Ruffled sleeves and tulle collars were a repeating trend on several pieces aside from the dotted design. Alongside the serene and poised arrangements, Wan displayed some audacious yet distinct items. A white sleeveless pleated lace dress with a high collar allowed for a different ambience. This piece featured a number of sheer slits, including a daring neckline, and was accompanied by the sparkled checkered pattern. In comparison to the more straightforward pieces, this fearless look allowed the stark fabric to shine.
Wan’s new collection and the summer journey on which she takes her observers is elegant yet casual all at once. The embodiment of a vast array of shapes, palettes and fabrics truly accounts for a rare and unique style.
