Our Ladies premiere: On the red carpet with Michael Caton-Jones and the cast at London Film Festival 2019

Scottish, subversive and hilarious; Our Ladies is a raw coming-of-age story delivering a roaring portrayal of the 90s. The female-led cast is spearheaded by a group of schoolgirls, brilliantly played by six enthusiastic actresses who lead the way in a discussion of sexuality, religion and all the shades in between. After the National Theatre’s stage adaptation in 2017, Alan Warner’s novel The Sopranos finally gets to the silver screen, also thanks to the devotion of director and co-screenwriter Michael Caton-Jones. The film premiered at the London Film Festival and we had the opportunity to meet and talk with the buoyant women playing the main characters, as well as the creatives behind this production.

Alan Warner shared his inspiration for writing The Sopranos. He also told us what drew him to adapt the story for the silver screen and discussed his upcoming projects.

Kate Dickie talked us through her character and shared her experience working with the lively schoolgirls on set.

Director Michael Caton-Jones shared with us what drew him to Our Ladies and explained what he would like the audience to take from it and the importance of the film being premiered in London.

The excited group of schoolgirls stopped to chat with us about their favourite moment of the production and what it means for them to be part of the London Film Festival.
