It’s less than a month to Christmas and after weeks of climate change talks and protests many wonder about the environmental impact of the 25th of December. winter holiday celebration. Travel Zoo has created a new infographic around the festive waste and the proposal of giving the gift of memories and travel as opposed to physical gifts.

The infographic reveals stats that show how the UK feel about Christmas waste and how we feel about trying to reduce it. A few examples:

  • 57% of the UK will be making more of an effort to be sustainable this Christmas
  • 46% of people who have considered reducing the number of physical gifts they buy, did so because of the amount of waste these presents create
  • 40% of the UK believe that experience gifts can prevent the post-Christmas blues
