Taster, the delivery-only brand behind some of Europe’s most Deliveroo-ed orders, has recently announced the launch of three new food concepts. Take-Out-Thai, Stacksando and A Burgers, which see further partnerships with some of UK’s leading chefs, are now part of the kitchens’ collection.

Take-Out-Thai is a collaboration with former Som Saa chef John Chantarasak, inspired by regional Thai street food. Its menu, a unique take on the rural dishes of the country, includes Pad Krapao, a wok dish of minced beef or tofu stir-fried with chilli, house-made seasoning sauce and fragrant holy basil leaf, topped with a crispy hen’s egg. Not to be forgotten are the Laab Woonsen Isaan, spicy glass noodles with chopped meat or tofu and Asian herbs, and Tam Taeng Kwaa, a traditional pounded cucumber salad dressed with coconut sugar, soy sauce, tamarind juice and chilli.

“At its heart Take-Out-Thai is simply delicious Thai food that I would want to eat at home, and partnering with Taster therefore felt like the perfect fit,” says chef Chantarasak. “I’ve decided to focus the menu on dishes [that are] commonly found on the streets of Thailand, but aren’t as widely known outside of their native homeland.”

Tim Anderson, Nanban owner and MasterChef winner, has joined Taster to co-create Stacksando. Born from the chef’s passion for the diverse flavours and textures of Japanese street food, this selection of sandos comprises three different sandwiches, along with extra wafu. The star of the launch event in February was the Tonkatsu Stacksando, prepared on the spot by Anderson, who explained along the way the exact choice of the ingredients and their level of cooking – specifically devised for the delivery service. A juicy British pork loin coated in crispy katsu and topped with tonkatsu sauce, umami mustard mayo, and shredded hispi cabbage, is laid on soft Japanese milk bread, toasted on one side only. Stacksando also offers Chicken Katsu Curry Sando, Chicken Katsu Curry Strips, Yuzu-Pickled Veg, and fries with a choice of three unique salt blends. Tim says: “For Stacksando I wanted to create a small menu of dishes that travel well and taste fantastic, and of course there’s almost no better item in Japanese gastronomy to tick those boxes than the great katsu sando.”

A Burgers is Taster’s new standalone concept showcasing indulgent plant-based burgers with an Asian twist. Rich in flavours, these creations aim to provide a superior alternative to the well-known fast-food menus, through healthy meat-free – and still delicious – varieties. Their takes on traditional burgers are a must. A Classic Burger is a grilled Moving Mountains plant-based patty, topped with signature “beet’n’burger” sauce made in collaboration with Dr Will’s, while A Chick’n Burger offers a crispy “chicken-style” patty without the chicken. Among the other dishes are the Sriracha Chilli Burger (grilled plant-based Moving Mountains patty with Dr Will’s sriracha mayo) and the Kimcheese Burger, a crispy fried cheese and cauliflower patty with kimchi, pickled cucumber, shredded white cabbage and Dr Will’s sriracha mayo.

Anton Soulier, one of Deliveroo’s early executives, founded Taster in order to provide restaurant-quality meals for home delivery. Working closely with local producers and using ethically sourced ingredients and predominantly sustainable packaging, they boast the consultancy of world-class chefs, like the two Michelin-starred Sang Hoon Degeimbre. Now in its third year, the service is active across Europe, with bases in London, Brighton, Paris and Madrid. And with the addition of these three new concepts, it is proving successful the enterprise of uniting tasty products with fast delivery distribution.
