Nothing but Thieves at the O2 Arena
Nothing But Thieves graced the O2 with their presence on Friday night at the first of two London shows on their 2021 tour. The popular indie-rock band are known for an immense number of chart-topping songs released over the years, including Sorry, Real Love Song, and Trip Switch.
The Essex-based five-piece have been greatly missed since their last show in London two years ago, meanwhile releasing two albums they were unable to perform due to the global pandemic.
As the group opened with fan favourite Futureproof (the latest single off of their latest EP, Moral Panic II) the whole venue lit up in a roar of excitement. It took no time at all for the moshing to begin and for people to start screaming lyrics at the top of their lungs.
The band introduced their audience to new material, as well as captivating them with their older hits, and the good vibes stayed through the whole set. Songs such as Forever and Ever More and Is Everybody Going Crazy? had devotees young and old on their feet and wanting more, while Graveyard Whistling, off of their self-titled debut album Nothing But Thieves, made an emotional impact on both the crowd and on lead singer Conor Mason.
As the evening died down, the music did not. It was hit after hit at the O2 as the rockers played their most popular and upbeat songs, leaving the arena ecstatic and entranced with each guitar riff and bass line. Nothing But Thieves’s connection with their audience is strong, and one born of love, the band even taking the time to hand out bottles of water mid-set.
The fans will never forget the performance they were given tonight. It was the epitome of the live rock-and-roll experience the world has been missing over the last 18 months.
