“Everything that’s happened to me has brought me here”: David Leitch on Bullet Train and working with Brad Pitt

“Everything that’s happened to me has brought me here”: David Leitch on Bullet Train and working with Brad Pitt

David Leitch’s latest film, Bullet Train, fits very neatly amongst the rest of his filmography. Following an ensemble of disparate assassins on the bullet train from Tokyo to Kyoto whose fates become interlocked, the film is sharp-witted, uber-stylish and reflects his partiality towards dynamic, beautifully coordinated action, showcasing the director’s unique cinematic vision. Adapted from the novel of the same name by Kōtarō Isaka, the movie also sees Leitch directing longtime stunt collaborator Brad Pitt, in a lead role for the first time, pulling a host of impressive performances around his comedic yet typically measured outing.

We had the good fortune to speak with Leitch about Bullet Train, covering how he became attached to the project, developing the film in the midst of a global pandemic, his working relationship with Brad Pitt and what future Leitch features could look like.

Bullet Train is released nationwide on 3rd August 2022.
