“It’s the unexpected pleasures on set you really don’t anticipate happening that give me goosebumps still as an actor”: Kevin Sorbo on Left Behind – Rise of the Antichrist
Left Behind: Rise of the Antichrist is a sequel to the 2014 film of same name, starring Nicholas Cage. Based on the apocalyptic adventure thrillers written by Tim LaHaye and Jerry B Jenkins, this new adaptation brings the popular series to a modern audience. The story unfolds after millions of people vanish all over the world and chaos ensues. Suicides and murders start to rocket out of control as fear, distrust and conspiracy theories circulate through the media.
When a new world leader called Jonathan Stonagal (Neal McDonough) emerges and makes false promises of a one-stop worldwide bank and social media platform called Eden that would solve the global crisis, well-known news anchorman Buck Williams (Greg Perrow) sets out to get the bottom of the widespread mystery. His girlfriend, Chloe Steele (Sarah Fisher), has lost her mother and brother to these disappearances and, with the help of her father, Ray (Kevin Sorbo), a joint journey of self-discovery and faith makes the trio realise this could be the Rapture, a biblical prophecy that is miraculously coming true.
The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Sorbo about the essence of the film, what it meant to bring this story into the present and to direct and star in the epic faith-based movie. He told us about working alongside his wife and son in the brilliant ensemble cast, and what he hopes viewers will take away from watching the feature.
