“I love making fun of myself”: James Marsden on Jury Duty

Jury Duty is the completely off-the-wall new Amazon Freevee documentary-style comedy series, which can best be conceived of as The Office meets The Truman Show, as a cast of actors – led by the mind-bogglingly ageless A-lister James Marsden (it’s between him and Paul Rudd who takes the crown) playing an “arrogant actor” version of himself – dupe an unsuspecting man that they are all real jury members.

The Upcoming had a brilliant chat with Marsden about the fun of taking on the unique project, where everyone is an actor except for one juror, sending up his own career and how the improv elements of the show were challenging but a breath of fresh air. We also discussed the highlights of his prolific and versatile career, from roles as a screen heartthrob in the likes of Ally McBeal, 27 Dresses and The Notebook through to Blockbuster movies such as X-Men, Enchanted and Sonic the Hedgehog. He’s showing no signs of slowing down or resting on his laurels, with recent output including Westworld, Dead to Me and working with Michael Keaton on Knox Goes Away.

Jury Duty is released on Amazon Freevee on 7th April 2023.
