“It was always important to make the fights feel real, not like Erin’s some sort of Superwoman”: Evin Ahmad on Who Is Erin Carter?

“It was always important to make the fights feel real, not like Erin’s some sort of Superwoman”: Evin Ahmad on Who Is Erin Carter?

This brand-new, fast-paced Netflix series follows British teacher Erin (Evin Ahmad). Plagued by the usual chores and dramas of family life, she’s relocated to Spain, married her ER nurse husband, Jordi (Sean Teale) and is busy bringing up pre-teen daughter Harper (Indica Watson) in a suburban neighbourhood. There’s a job promotion on the table at work, but it’s also a tricky time for her daughter as she struggles to settle at her school.

One day whilst out shopping with her daughter, Erin suddenly finds herself caught up in a supermarket heist and, under duress, manages to successfully fight off one of the attackers. Unfortunately for her, the perpetrator recognises her, which sparks a chain of events that unearths buried secrets, threatens her family unit and puts them all in imminent danger.

The Upcoming had the pleasure of speaking to Ahmed about her lead role in this crime thriller series. The actress shared how she managed to work with her voice coach to perfect her British accent, what it was like filming on location in Spain and what it means to be part of a series that empowers ordinary women to think like extraordinary women.
