Nina Nesbitt launches Apple Tree Records and releases new singles, marking a new chapter in her career

Acclaimed Scottish singer-songwriter, Nina Nesbitt, has today marked a significant turning point in her career with the release of her new single Pages, alongside an additional track, On the Run. Both songs are now available through Apple Tree Records, a label she has independently launched, illustrating a bold step into entrepreneurial territory in the music industry. The release of these tracks not only signifies Nesbitt’s return to her musical roots but also her venture into new personal and professional chapters.

Pages, described by Nesbitt as an autobiographical reflection of her 20s, encapsulates the essence of folk music and storytelling, elements that reignited her passion for the genre. The track was recorded live in Devon, featuring the collaboration of five talented musicians, offering Nesbitt a novel and exhilarating recording experience. She shared her enthusiasm about the process, saying, “It was my first time recording like this which was so fun.” Furthermore, On the Run presents itself as an escape narrative, inspired by the US folk music Nesbitt found herself immersed in, showcasing a thematic diversity in her latest project.

The establishment of Apple Tree Records is a significant milestone for Nesbitt and her longtime manager, Vicky Dowdall. The label aims to be a “secret garden” for artistic growth, emphasising the value of storytelling and songwriting without the pressure to conform or dilute one’s artistic vision. Nesbitt expressed her excitement about the launch, stating, “I’m so excited to announce the launch of Apple Tree Records… I think I’m ready to take full control of my career and become the artist I’ve always dreamt of being. No compromises.” She also highlighted the commitment to acknowledging the contributions of songwriters through the awarding of master points for releases on the label.

The label name, Apple Tree Records, serves as a homage to Nesbitt’s career beginnings and the supportive partnership with Dowdall. Nesbitt reminisced about their early days, “The name of the label is a nod to our first release together when I was just 17 years old. A time in which I was naively fearless and had an unwavering self-belief.” This sense of shared history and mutual confidence underpins the ethos of the label, promising an exciting future for the artists it will support.

As fans and the music industry alike await more news and music from Nina Nesbitt, the release of Pages and On the Run stands as a testament to her evolving artistry and ambition. Both tracks underscore Nesbitt’s commitment to authenticity and narrative depth in her music, while the launch of Apple Tree Records heralds a new chapter of creative independence and innovation.
